New ADSL router/server

I have now a new ADSL router at home. It’s a old Cobalt Qube 3. And it’s running Debian Sarge instead of the old Cobalt OS. For more info see birdofprey.klingon.nl.

I have put in the Qube a pcmcia cardbus adaptor along with a prism pcmcia card. So now it’s also a wireless AP.

Dennis, the tutorial you\’re referring to is about Debian Woody.

Are there any differences in Debian Sarge installation?

    What about RAID1 configuration?

    Ciao, :DTM.

I have used the woody manual as a reference for the sarge install.
And you can make a RAID 1 install on it, i did that with mdadm.

Just setup the RAID 1 and install Sarge in out as in the manual.

If I have some time I will write a RAID 1 with Sarge howto.

    Hello Dennis,

how\’d you manage to get it to boot from network?
In the tutorial, it says to use btoip x x x x.
But the problem is, it\’s not in the menu, and I can\’t put a keyboard on the machine because there\’s no PS2 connector on it. Just a serial connector and two ethernet connectors…
I\\\\\\\’ve updated to the latest ROM, as said by the tutorial, which was relatively easy to do, but that next step (step 2 in second half) has be stumped…

    JF,

You must use a null-modem cable. This is a serial cable with a DB9F on the Qube end, and probably the same DB9F on the desktop end. Then you can get a boot prompt via a terminal program, I use terra term pro under windows for it.

Thing doesn\’t want to show any activity on the console, on any of the speeds I tried (2400-115200, all 8n1). Both Tera term and Hyperterminal have trouble with it, and I tried 2 different NULL modem cables…..(one of which I\’m 100% sure should work, and the other 90%)…
    Any hints?
